# Recent Paintings

Published 2026-05-05

I promised myself I would paint more, and these three works came out of the concentrated stretch at the end of 2014. They share transparent colour, strong shapes and the pleasure of drawing back into wet media.

Lake Watcher. Watercolour and pastel, 2014, 16.5 x 21cm.

Clapton Pond Rose. Watercolour, pastel and gouache, 2014, 19 x 28cm.

Glinter. Watercolour and gouache, 2014, 24 x 29cm.

The new year can feel slow after an intense period of work: chores gather, the studio cools down, and a painting practice can seem briefly stagnant. Putting the work together is a reminder that a small group already contains the beginning of the next question.
